The TIL-I exam, explained clearly

The TIL-I (Test In Linea per Ingegneria) is the official online admission test that Politecnico di Torino uses to evaluate applicants to its Bachelor's degrees in engineering. It measures the reasoning, quantitative, and language skills that PoliTo expects from entering students.

The TIL-I is delivered fully online with remote proctoring, so you can take it from anywhere with a stable internet connection. It is the same test whether you apply from Italy or abroad.

Anyone applying to a Bachelor's engineering programme at Politecnico di Torino takes the TIL-I. That includes:

• Italian students finishing secondary school
• International applicants from EU and non-EU countries
• Students switching from another university

International applicants often prepare in English because English-language TIL-I resources are limited — that is exactly the gap Tilify was built for.

The TIL-I is divided into several timed sections. Each section has its own timer, and time not used in one section does not carry over to the next.

• Mathematics — algebra, functions, geometry, trigonometry.
• Logic — sequences, deductions, quantitative reasoning.

• Science — physics and general scientific reasoning.

Each correct answer earns points, and depending on the section a wrong answer may carry a small penalty. Your total score decides admission and whether you have Additional Learning Obligations (OFA) to complete during your first year. Because of the penalty, blind guessing is rarely a good strategy — targeted practice on your weakest section usually moves your score more than adding hours of review to a section you already handle.
